Place and Purpose

Our present is riven by confusing geopolitics and poorly framed national strategies. The future needs to be shaped in the places people call home - villages, towns, cities and regions. Communities must come together to co-create a positive vision and be the change.

When communities do this they become purposeful, and places evolve from passive locations into thriving environments - defined by connection, shared ambition, wellbeing and collective action.

Purposeful Places align people, communities, organisations, and environments around a common purpose - and in doing so become Purposeful Villages, Purposeful Towns, Purposeful Cities and Purposeful Regions.

Places must foster trust, engagement, meaning and belonging. Creating purposeful villages, towns, cities and regions fostering participation, innovation, and enterprise, and inclusive and supportive eco-systems. Purposeful nations provide supporting infrastructures and resources, nurturing collaboration and a flourishing environment for all.

Place-based change involving a systemic shift from fragmentation to co-creation, supported by a cross-generational movement we call Gen P. A movement focused on Purpose, People, Place, Planet, and supported by over a dozen cross-generational sub-movements (e.g. Gen A, Gen C, Gen H, Gen I, Gen T, Gen V).

Purposeful places create the eco-systems. People provide the energy. Combined they create Purposeful Britain - a Britain grounded in place, powered by people, and sustained across generations.
